Let’s get you on the path to complete physical and mental health.

Incorporating Neurofeedback Into Your Treatment Plan

Restoring and boosting your brain, capacity, and mood requires you to improve all seven of the core healing nodes, your body’s major biological functions: gut health, immune system, energy, hormone balance, detoxification, heart vitality, and brain power. Understanding how each of these key body functions impacts your brain can help us develop an individualized Functional Medicine plan that yields spectacular results. Our practice is about thought, emotion, and memory with the aim of calming, repairing, and renewing your one of your body’s most important organs and systems.

Over the past few years, Dr. Stephanie Varga has led our Neurofeedback Unit at Linden & Arc Vitality Institute. If you are interested in Neurofeedback treatment, we recommend Dr. Varga’s private clinic location, Brain Health Centre of Alberta. Dr. Varga offers comprehensive assessment and non-invasive treatment to support optimal brain functioning and peak performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Neurofeedback is a non-invasive medical treatment that allows us to measure your brain waves, encouraging you to self-regulate and normalize your functions through conditioning. This therapy allows you to retrain specific areas of your brain to bring it back to its functional best, helping with various cognitive disabilities, including depression, anxiety, and concussions.

Neurotransmitters are the body’s chemical messengers, sending signals to main body functions, including breathing, digestion, muscles, mood, concentration, and other primary systems. Lifestyle and health challenges can exacerbate the two main neurotransmitters – inhibitory and excitatory – causing a significant array of acute and chronic symptoms.

There are two kinds of neurotransmitters in your brain – inhibitory and excitatory. The former refers to hormones that stabilize, smooth and calm your moods and includes serotonin and GABA. The latter refers to the energizing neurotransmitters that stimulate the brain, including dopamine, histamine, and acetylcholine. When your body experiences an overdrive of excitatory neurotransmitters, your inhibitory neurotransmitters can become depleted. Advanced testing can identify the status of your neurotransmitter levels and determine subsequent treatments.

QEEG stands for Quantitative Electroencephalography and is also known as “brain mapping”. This advanced test helps measure the patterns of your brain waves and activities and is crucial in determining the status of brain function and any subsequent problems. It is a critical part of our brain assessment and treatment and is used to assess, track, and monitor conditions, such as concussions, dementia, and CIRS.
