The Reflexology treatment, or what's also referred to as zone therapy, is an ancient, holistic healing art and alternative medical practice based on science. This science states there are 10 zones in the body, 5 on each side and reflex or pressure points in the hands and feet that correspond to every tissue, gland, organ and body system. The theory is applying pressure or manipulating these pressure points on the feet, hands, lower legs, face, or ears helps alleviate illness, encourage healing, and release tension. This is done by working on lines of energy.
The reflexology treatment differs from massage. The map (side) shows the predefined points located on your feet. The reflexologist manipulates the pressure points so that any part of your body that is in pain or is weak can be strengthened with the pressure on these points.
The Reflexology Treatment
Using Reflexology, the therapist applies pressure to specific points on the feet and hands with their finger and thumb. Without lotions or oils, the therapist uses specific hand massage techniques.
For example, the pressure points on your toes are linked to your brain. When you receive a toe massage, it relieves and refreshes your mind. This is why reflexology can be a very effective technique for good health, preventing symptoms of stress and illnesses from surfacing.
